The oven has been preheating for twenty minutes and the air inside is still cool. Or the roast came out burnt on top and raw in the middle, again. Dinner is waiting on an oven that is not doing its job, and you need someone who will tell you truthfully what is wrong and fix it.
Eddie’s Appliance Repair has repaired ovens for Long Island families since 2009. We are a family business based in Brentwood, and our licensed, certified, and insured technicians work on gas and electric ovens, single and double wall ovens, speed ovens, and the oven cavity of freestanding ranges across Suffolk County and parts of Nassau County. Call 631-431-0849 and our customer service representative will set up a two-hour arrival window, often for the same day.
Oven Not Heating? Problems We Fix
Most oven repair calls begin with one of these symptoms. If yours is on the list, we have almost certainly fixed it before.
- Oven will not heat or preheats slowly: The display works, but the cavity stays cold or takes forever to warm up.
- Temperature runs hot or cold: Cookies burn on the bottom at 350, or a casserole is still pale after the full time.
- Uneven baking: One side of the pan browns faster than the other.
- Bake works but broil does not, or the reverse: One function heats and the other never glows.
- Gas oven glows or clicks with no flame: The igniter lights up, yet the burner never catches.
- Convection fan is loud or still: Rattling, grinding, or a fan that never turns.
- Trouble after a self-clean cycle: The door is stuck locked, or the oven has not heated since the cycle ran.
- Error codes and dead controls: A code on the display, keys that do not respond, or an oven that shuts off mid-cook.
One safety note for gas ovens. If you ever smell gas, do not touch any switches. Leave the house, call your gas utility from outside, and call us once they have made the home safe.
What Our Technician Checks on an Oven Service Call
An oven that will not heat can have four or five different causes, and they do not all cost the same to fix. That is why our technician confirms the symptom with you and tests the parts that produce and control heat before quoting anything.
On an electric oven, that means the bake and broil elements, the temperature sensor, the control board, and the door switch. On a gas oven, it starts with the igniter, because an igniter that glows but never gets hot enough to open the gas valve is the most common reason a gas oven stops heating. On both types we check the door gasket and hinges, since a door that does not seal throws off temperature and browning.
If your complaint is temperature accuracy, our technician measures the actual cavity temperature against the set point. For convection ovens we test the fan motor. For self-clean problems we check the door lock assembly, the thermal fuse, and the control board, because a self-clean cycle runs hotter than anything else the oven does.
Once we know the cause, you get a plain explanation and a firm quote. Many repairs take about 20 to 30 minutes from there. Parts that have to be ordered are the exception, and we tell you up front.
Wall Ovens, Double Wall Ovens, and Speed Ovens
Built-in ovens ask a little more of a repair visit. A wall oven usually has to be pulled forward out of the cabinet to reach its parts, then set back square and level, and our technicians protect your cabinetry and floor while it is out.
Double wall ovens are a frequent call. Often one cavity works and the other does not, which usually points to a part belonging to that cavity. Speed ovens, the compact fast-cooking ovens often installed above a single wall oven, are part of our oven service too.
If the trouble is on the cooking surface instead, a burner that clicks without lighting or a coil that stays cold, see our stove, range, and cooktop repair page. When both the burners and the oven are acting up, tell us and we will look at everything in one visit.
Gas and Electric Ovens: Brands We Service
We repair gas ovens, electric ovens, and the oven side of dual-fuel ranges from GE, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire, Bosch, KitchenAid, Maytag, and Admiral. GE is a specialty focus for our team, including GE wall ovens. For Viking, Thermador, and Jenn-Air kitchens, see our high-end and luxury appliance repair page.
Eddie’s Appliance Repair is an independent family business, and our technicians hold Master Samurai Technician certification along with VGI and MATTC credentials. When you call, have the brand, the model number (usually on a tag inside the door frame), and a short description of what you are seeing.
